How Car4Less Works
The Car4Less model explained end to end: below-retail pricing, the franchise dealer network, bank finance, the rewards programmes and the patent behind it all.
Car4Less is an independent buying channel, not a dealership. You browse 1 318 new cars with the manufacturer's retail price and the lower Car4Less price shown side by side, choose your car, and a consultant handles the rest. The car is supplied and delivered by the manufacturer's own franchise dealer, fully registered and with the full warranty and service plan. Finance is arranged with the major banks, and you sign with the bank directly on its standard terms. Nothing about the ownership experience changes; only what it costs you does.
On top of the below-retail price sit two optional rewards programmes: Post & Share, the Payment Saver Plan, and Shop & Save. They are separate, each with its own rules, and participation is entirely your choice. The model as a whole is protected by a government-gazetted provisional patent.

How Car4Less Works — questions
The questions people ask about how car4less works, answered plainly.
Is Car4Less a dealership?
+
No. Car4Less is a buying channel that sits in front of the national franchise dealer network. Your car is supplied, registered and delivered by the manufacturer's own dealer with the full warranty and service plan, exactly as if you had walked in yourself. The difference is the price, which is below the manufacturer's retail price, and the optional rewards programmes.
Do I have to join the rewards programmes to buy through Car4Less?
+
No. Buying at the Car4Less Retail price, subject to stock, is a complete transaction with no further obligation. The Post & Share Payment Saver Plan and Shop & Save are optional programmes for buyers who want to participate, and each has its own qualification rules set out in the Terms and Conditions.
How is my car financed if I buy through Car4Less?
+
Through the same banks that finance most new cars in South Africa: WesBank, Absa, MFC and Standard Bank. Car4Less handles the application on your behalf, but the finance agreement is concluded directly between you and the bank on its standard terms, subject to its credit assessment. Car4Less is not a credit provider.
What does the Car4Less patent cover?
+
The combined model of discounted new-vehicle retailing with the guarantee-backed rewards programmes was protected by a government-gazetted provisional patent, with founder Edward Thwaits named as inventor. It protects the way the parts fit together rather than any single element, which is why the ecosystem is licensed to Business Agencies as exclusive rights.
