Car4Less & Saving Money
How Car4Less works, the two ways to buy, how the Payment Saver Plan can lower your effective instalment, the Business Agency opportunity and company news.
5 topics · 18 answered questions · 5 articles
Car4Less was built around one problem: the monthly cost of owning a new car in South Africa. The answer has two parts. Car4Less Retail lets you buy any new car below the manufacturer's retail price, with no further obligation. The Post & Share Payment Saver Plan goes further for qualifying participants, returning up to R3 000 in cashback when their approved content leads to a verified new-vehicle sale and delivery. A separate Shop & Save programme turns verified everyday shopping into reward discounts. Every car is delivered brand new through the national franchise dealer network with its full warranty, financed through the major banks exactly as normal.
This category explains how each part works in plain language, what it takes to qualify, what the Business Agency opportunity involves for people who want to build a business on the model, and what is new at Car4Less. Where the Terms and Conditions set a rule, they prevail over anything written here.

Quick answers
One question from each topic. Open the topic for the full set.
Is Car4Less a dealership?
+
No. Car4Less is a buying channel that sits in front of the national franchise dealer network. Your car is supplied, registered and delivered by the manufacturer's own dealer with the full warranty and service plan, exactly as if you had walked in yourself. The difference is the price, which is below the manufacturer's retail price, and the optional rewards programmes.
How does buying below retail reduce my monthly instalment?
+
The amount you finance is the price less your deposit and trade-in. A lower starting price means a smaller loan, which lowers the instalment and, because interest is charged on the balance, reduces the total interest over the term as well. Unlike a once-off cash discount, the effect repeats every month for the life of the agreement.
What is the difference between a Car4Less Business Agency and a franchise?
+
A traditional franchise charges an upfront fee plus ongoing royalties and usually requires premises, stock and staff. A Car4Less Business Agency has none of those. You purchase exclusive rights to operate the model as your own business, keep what your agency earns without royalties, and run it largely remotely. We use the word franchise only because it is familiar.
Where can I read independent writing about Car4Less?
+
Prof. Pierre du Plessis of the University of Johannesburg has published a series of essays on the model on Medium, and founder Edward Thwaits has written about the Business Agency model there too. The Media & Press page on this site links to every piece, and the blog's reading-list post summarises them.
Are the buyer stories on Car4Less real?
+
Yes. Stories are based on real customers who agreed to share their experience, and testimonials on the site carry the buyer's name and the car they bought. Wording is tidied for readability but the facts, the car and the outcome are the customer's own. Individual results depend on each buyer's circumstances.
