What happens between saying yes and taking delivery: stock, factory orders, pre-delivery inspection, registration and handover.
Once you have chosen your car and finance is approved, the order goes to the supplying dealer. If your exact specification is in stock, delivery can follow within days. If it must be built or shipped, you wait for the vehicle to arrive, after which the dealer performs a pre-delivery inspection, fits any accessories, registers the car in your name and prepares the handover. Delivery dates are always estimates that depend on manufacturer stock and logistics.

How long does delivery of a new car take?

In-stock vehicles can be delivered within days of finance approval and payment. Factory or regional orders take longer, from a few weeks to a few months for less common specifications or imported models. Ask for a realistic estimate up front and remember it depends on manufacturer stock and shipping.
Can I order a specific colour or specification?

Usually yes, subject to the manufacturer offering that combination for the South African market. Unusual colours or option packs typically mean a factory order and a longer wait. If you are flexible, choosing from available stock is the fastest route to delivery.
What is a pre-delivery inspection?

The dealer's final check before handover: fluids, tyre pressures, software updates, a road test, cleaning and fitting of any accessories. It ensures the car leaves the dealership exactly as the manufacturer intends. It is included in the delivery process, not something you pay extra for.
Will my car be delivered to my home?
