Nine Payment Saver Plan Myths, and the Facts Behind Them
07 September 2026 · 4 min read · Myths vs Facts
"Everyone gets R3 000." "You get paid for posting." "It's insurance." The nine most common things people get wrong about the Car4Less Payment Saver Plan, each corrected in a sentence or two.
New ideas attract second-hand explanations, and the Payment Saver Plan (PSP) has picked up a few. Some are innocent shortcuts; some would create expectations the plan cannot meet. This article lists the nine we hear most and puts the fact next to each one, in the same terms the Terms & Conditions use. If a myth touches a contractual point, the terms are the reference and this page is the summary.
Myths about what the plan is
Myth one: the PSP is insurance. Fact: it is not an insurance policy, insurance cover or an insurance benefit for the buyer. You pay no premium and hold no policy. The performance guarantee framework that makes qualifying rewards available is held by Car4Less with selected underwriting institutions, and only Car4Less can invoke it.
Myth two: the PSP is an investment. Fact: nothing is invested, nothing earns interest and nothing pays a dividend. Participating gives you no stake in Car4Less. Myth three: the performance guarantee is insurance. Fact: it is the performance-related framework behind the rewards, not a policy of any kind, and it should never be described as one.
Myths about the money
Myth four: everyone gets R3 000. Fact: R3 000 is the maximum cashback available to a qualifying participant. It is conditional on every requirement being met and verified, including the successful sale and delivery of a new vehicle tracked back to your content. Some participants will receive less; some will receive nothing, because the qualifying outcome never happened.
Myth five: the PSP guarantees an income. Fact: the Terms & Conditions state plainly that no income, earnings or cash-back is guaranteed, promised or assured to anyone. Myth six: the PSP reduces my bank instalment. Fact: your contractual instalment never changes. The fixed illustration of R6 500 less R3 000 giving an effective R3 500 (example only; T&C's apply) shows how qualifying cashback sits alongside the instalment, not inside it.
Myths about participation
Myth seven: you get paid for posting. Fact: posting is the participation mechanism, not the outcome. Content earns nothing unless it leads to a successful new-vehicle sale, tracked back to you, with the vehicle delivered. Myth eight: every post qualifies. Fact: only approved content, shared on authorised platforms at the prescribed quantity and frequency and capable of being verified, can qualify.
Myth nine: loyalty rewards are paid automatically. Fact: Shop & Save is a separate programme. A till slip must be uploaded and verified, the purchase must qualify, and the programme's own rules, including its connection to a qualifying new-vehicle sale, must be met before any reward discount becomes available. Shop & Save value is never added to Post & Share cashback.
Why the corrections matter
The plan is built on verification and a performance guarantee framework, and both depend on the same discipline: what is promised is exactly what the rules say, no more. A buyer who expects R3 000 for posting will be disappointed; a buyer who understands that the completed, attributed sale and delivery is the enabling event knows precisely what they are working towards. Car4Less would rather you knew the second version before you chose to participate.
If you have heard a description of the Payment Saver Plan that is not on this list, the knowledge centre's Core FAQs and Important Principles pages are the quickest way to check it, and the Terms & Conditions are the final word.
Questions about this article
Where do these myths come from?
+
Mostly from shortcuts: a headline number repeated without its conditions, or an older social-media description that has since been superseded. The Terms & Conditions published on car4less.co.za expressly replace all previous wording about cash-backs and rewards, so the current terms and this knowledge centre are the only descriptions to rely on.
Is it wrong to say the cashback is guaranteed?
+
It is accurate only with its condition attached. Where every requirement is fully met and verified, including the attributed sale and delivery, the qualifying cashback is made available through the performance guarantee framework. Without that condition, nothing is guaranteed, promised or assured to anyone.
Can I share this article as approved Car4Less content?
+
Approved content for Post & Share is supplied by Car4Less through its own channels, and only that content counts towards the participation requirement. You are welcome to share this article for information, but it does not replace the prescribed content or count as qualifying participation.

The Car4Less Payment Saver Plan (PSP) is not an insurance policy, investment, bank deposit, interest-bearing product, dividend programme or guaranteed-income programme. Any cashback, reward or other benefit referred to in connection with the PSP is subject to the eligibility, participation, content, performance, transaction, verification and other requirements in the current PSP Terms & Conditions. Examples are provided for explanatory purposes only and do not create or extend any entitlement. The maximum cashback amount must not be interpreted as an unconditional or automatic payment, and participation alone does not create an entitlement to cashback or rewards. The current Terms & Conditions remain the controlling document and prevail in the event of any inconsistency with this knowledge centre. Read the Terms & Conditions →
