The Car4Less Payment Saver Plan, Explained From Start to Finish

09 September 2026 · 4 min read · The Complete Introduction

A plain-English walk through the Payment Saver Plan (PSP): what it is, what it is not, what a participant actually does, and the one requirement that decides whether cashback is ever paid.

Most South Africans meet the Car4Less Payment Saver Plan through a single number: up to R3 000 a month back on a new car. The number is real, but on its own it invites the wrong questions. Is it a discount? Is it insurance? Do I get it automatically? This article answers those in order, using the same wording as the Terms & Conditions, so that what you read here is what actually applies.

The short version is this. The Payment Saver Plan, shortened to PSP after first mention, is a rewards programme that runs alongside a qualifying new-car purchase through Car4Less. It is not a product you buy and not a policy you hold. It is a structured way of taking part, verified step by step, that can lead to cashback when a very specific outcome happens.

Two ways to buy, and where the PSP fits

Car4Less offers two routes to the same brand-new car. The first is Car4Less Retail: any new car below the manufacturer's retail price, delivered through the national franchise dealer network with its full warranty, financed through the major banks exactly as normal, with no obligation to do anything further. Many buyers choose this and stop there.

The second route is the Payment Saver Plan. The car, the finance and the delivery are identical. What changes is that the buyer chooses to participate: creating and sharing approved Car4Less content through authorised channels, according to the participation requirement. Participation is the buyer's decision, never a condition of buying the car.

What a participant actually does

Participation is built on Post & Share. Car4Less supplies approved content; the participant publishes and shares it on authorised social-media platforms at the prescribed quantity and frequency, and keeps evidence that the activity happened. That evidence matters, because every step of the plan is verified before anything is paid.

The activity itself is ordinary. What is unusual is the discipline: incomplete or irregular participation does not qualify. The programme works on an all-or-nothing basis, which is what allows the qualifying cashback to be backed by the performance guarantee framework once the requirements are fully met.

The one requirement that decides everything

Here is the principle the whole plan rests on, and the one most often misunderstood. Posting content does not, by itself, earn anything. The content must lead to a successful sale of a new vehicle to an independent third-party customer, that sale must be tracked back to the participant as the originator of the content, and the vehicle must actually be delivered.

An enquiry is not a sale. A lead is not a sale. A finance application, a finance approval, a quotation or a reservation is not a sale. Only the completed sale and delivery, verifiably attributed to your content, is the enabling event. When that happens, and every other requirement has been met, the participant qualifies for cashback of up to R3 000, paid onto an authorised Mastercard rewards card.

What the PSP is not

The plan is not an insurance policy, insurance cover or insurance benefit for the buyer. You pay no premium and hold no policy; the performance guarantee framework behind the rewards sits between Car4Less and selected South African underwriting institutions, and Car4Less alone has the right to invoke it. The plan is not an investment, not a bank product, not a loan, and not income of any kind. Your vehicle finance agreement is never changed by it.

  • Not insurance: no premium, no policy, no claim by the buyer.
  • Not an investment or a deposit: nothing is invested and nothing earns interest.
  • Not guaranteed income: cashback is conditional, and nothing is promised to anyone.
  • Not a replacement for finance: you keep paying your bank as normal.

The illustration, and its limits

Car4Less uses one fixed illustration: a normal instalment of R6 500, less R3 000 in qualifying cashback, gives an effective instalment of R3 500 (example only; T&C's apply). It shows why recurring value beats a once-off discount over a finance term. It does not mean your instalment drops, that everyone receives R3 000, or that anything is paid without the qualifying sale and delivery.

If you are weighing up the two routes, the Post & Share page sets out the four steps, the Shop & Save page covers the separate loyalty programme, and the rest of this knowledge centre answers the detailed questions topic by topic. Where anything here could be read two ways, the Terms & Conditions decide.

Questions about this article

Do I have to join the Payment Saver Plan to buy a car through Car4Less?

+

No. Participation is entirely your choice. You can buy any new car at the Car4Less Retail price, below the manufacturer's retail price, with no further obligation. The Payment Saver Plan is a second route for buyers who choose to take part.

If I post everything I am asked to, will I definitely receive R3 000?

+

No. Full participation is necessary but not sufficient. Cashback becomes payable only when your content leads to a successful new-vehicle sale that is tracked back to you and the vehicle is delivered, and every other requirement has been verified. R3 000 is the maximum for qualifying participants, not an automatic amount.

Does the PSP change the finance agreement I sign with the bank?

+

No. Your finance agreement is concluded directly with the bank on its normal terms, and your monthly debit order stays exactly as it is. Any qualifying cashback is paid to you separately, onto an authorised rewards card; it is never deducted from the contractual instalment.
